International Data Transfers and Schrems II

The GDPR does not require EU personal data to be stored exclusively within the EU. However, it mandates that appropriate safeguards be in place when transferring personal data outside the EU or EEA.
The Court of Justice of the European Union’s Schrems II ruling invalidated the EU–U.S. Privacy Shield framework. Following this decision, organizations must rely on other lawful transfer mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), along with additional safeguards where required.
